A good way to tell if you are "Training"

This is a great checklist to determine whether you are "Training" or just wasting your time.  Walking around in an air conditioned gym from station to station would be a "Training" infraction.  Mirrors are for getting ready to go out, not for checking out biceps during a bicep curl.  Furthermore, a bicep curl is not an example of "Training"!  Texting while on a treadmill is far from "Training"!

Print this checklist out and study it everyday when you wake up.  Preferably before or after you step on your scale.

Now.... GO TRAIN!

Stop the grains!

Here is a great article on the infamous "Wheat Belly" syndrome.  Take a look around you.... you will see plenty of them roaming the streets, stores, and even in the gyms.  Cut out the grains in your diet and you wont see it in your mirror!

A great weekend at The Texas Throwdown!

Muscle heads from all over the world got a taste of what being "FIT" is all about this weekend at The Texas Throwdown located in the middle of the Europa Expo. An outstanding CrossFit event put on by GSX Athletics! The judging was headed up by CrossFit Champions, Matt and Pam Munson. I was honored to be asked by the Munson's to be involved in judging at the event and glad I choose to do so! It was different being on the other side of the movements and I had a difficult time refraining from grabbing a bar and start knocking out some clean and jerks. Before every heat I found myself psyching myself out as if I were in the competition. I enjoyed being part of such a great judging staff though and also meeting a ton of other fellow CrossFitters! Congratulations to all that competed and that were involved! I look forward to seeing more of these in the future!

Here are some pics of me demoing movement standards and judging some of the athletes and teams in the competition.

Always listen to your Mother...and this one!

I can attest to the benefits stated in this article about drinking Raw Milk opposed to pasteurized  milk.  I didn't have to cleanse my system before with the yogurt or anything, enjoyed it form day one and haven't felt better.   Try it yourself!

What is Desire?

So, it is Sunday and you have promised yourself (again) to get in the gym Monday and start fresh.  Wishing to lose the "weekends good times".  I hope that telling your inner self will be enough but both you and I know that it will not be.  You need desire.  Desire to better yourself.  The desire to set the alarm 2 hours earlier than normal so that you can get in a 3 mile run before work.  You need desire to fight the afternoon traffic after a long day at the office to get to the gym instead of the couch.  Why start tomorrow?  Start tonight!  Simply start by skipping the bowl of Sunday night ice cream and substitute it with a good nights rest.  Start now.  Reach down within yourself and find the desire.  The desire to better yourself!

Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.
